Redcon 1 Total War
Citrulline Malate – 6g is the research backed dosage for optimal results, especially withe the superior 2:1 ratio. Research has shown increases in nitric oxide & plasma arginine levels whilst reducing fatigue and muscle soreness (up to 40%).
Beta Alanine – Again 3.2g is the research backed dose shown to delay the onset of lactic acid build up which improves muscular performance. Research has shown users are able to get an additional 1-2 reps on average in the 8-15 rep range.
Agmatine – This serves a similar purpose to Citrulline which is to enhance nitric oxide and muscle pumps, however it also has the added benefit of mood enhancement in the 1g+ range.
Taurine – 1g is a good dose which is included in most supplements but benefits can be noticed up to 2g. Research shows benefits with blood flow, increase anaerobic capacity with no effect on heart rate or blood pressure.
Caffeine – It increases energy, gym performance, reduces fatigue whilst improving focus. 250mg is a nice amount of caffeine, its not too stim crazy where you feel off your tits just this gives you a nice sustained energy release which is subtle but noticeable without the crash.
AMPiberry – Is a powerful antioxidant that is touted as the new DMHA as it works well in conjunction with caffeine to enhance its energy producing effects whilst also aiding in its sustainability. This is supposed to reduce the big peak and crash in energy levels.
Infinergy -dicaffeine malate can increase focus, energy, and metabolism while decreasing perceived fatigue. However, dicaffeine malate offers a unique advantage in that the malic acid supposedly calms the digestive distress commonly caused by other forms of caffeine.
Cocoteanol – Cocoa contains theobromine, an alkaloid that stimulates the heart and the nervous system and acts as a vasodilator (widens blood vessels) and diuretic (urine aid). Cocoa also lowers systolic blood pressure, while the antioxidants in green tea protect your heart from stress of intense workout.
Naringin 98% – Naringin modulates signalling pathways and interacts with signalling molecules and thus has a wide range of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer activities, as well as effects on bone regeneration, metabolic syndrome, oxidative stress, genetic damage, and central nervous system (CNS) diseases.
Bioperine – Simply put, this component helps improve nutrient absorption for better overall results. Any time a bodybuilding supplement has this, it’s a great bonus.
“The powerful combination of stimulants and focus factors along with N.O. compounds make Total War an all-in-one pre-workout supplement. Enjoy the most energy, focus, and skin-splitting pumps you’ve ever felt during a workout,” per the manufacturer’s official website.
We agree with these claims to a degree. Redcon1 Total War is a solid pre-workout supplement which should help take your workouts to the next level. Although I believe this is more of your every day preworkout, if you are looking for something which is going to give you a HUGE kick up the ass then this isn’t the preworkout of choice. I also think this preworkout could be greatly improved with the addition of other nitric oxide boosting ingredients and for those who are extremely against artificial sweeteners this isn’t for you either as it is sweetened with sucralose rather than the preferred natural sweetener in Stevia.
Taste & Mixability
Although I have not tried all of the flavours and some which I tried were not to my liking there are now (as of Dec 19) 20 flavours of this preworkout and there has to be at least 1 if not more flavours that you like. Not many supplement companies go through the effort to offer so many different flavour options and that is why Redcon 1 deserve 10/10 for taste. As for mix-ability, it mixed perfectly with no sediment or settling of ingredients and no gritty texture so no complaints here either!
Value For Money
Prices vary based on supplier and country however on average you will pay £25-30 for a 30 serving tub. This puts Total War in the average price bracket however I gave it 7/10 since this preworkout contains more ingredients and more patented ingredients which are more expensive than unpatented ingredients. Although RedCon1 is a larger company with greater buying power I think they need to be given credit for the quality of the ingredients included without drastically inflating their prices and chasing profit margins.
